Critical quality attributes are physical, chemical, biological, or microbiological properties of a drug substance or drug product that must be within defined limits to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of the product. CQAs are identified through risk assessment and scientific understanding of the product, and are used to guide process design, control strategy, and regulatory submissions in accordance with ICH Q8 guidelines.
