A bioreactor is a controlled vessel or system designed to support biological reactions involving living cells, microorganisms, or enzymes under precisely regulated conditions of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and agitation. In biomanufacturing, bioreactors are used for the upstream production of biologics, viral vectors, and cell-based products. They are available in stainless steel and single-use formats, with capacities ranging from laboratory scale to commercial-scale production.
