Anchorage-dependent cells

Anchorage-dependent cells are cell types that require attachment to a solid or semi-solid surface to survive, proliferate, and maintain normal function. They are commonly cultured using adherent cell culture systems on tissue culture-treated plastic, microcarriers, or extracellular matrix-coated substrates. Most primary mammalian cells and many cell lines used in biomanufacturing and viral vector production are anchorage-dependent.
