A Master Viral Seed Stock (MVSS) is a well-characterized, cryopreserved collection of a specific viral vector — such as AAV, adenovirus, or lentivirus — produced from a defined starting material and stored in multiple aliquots to serve as the primary reference source for all subsequent viral vector manufacturing campaigns. The MVSS must meet defined quality specifications for identity, purity, potency, titer, and absence of adventitious agents, and is qualified in accordance with GMP guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
