Critical process parameters are process variables whose variability has a direct impact on a critical quality attribute (CQA) and must therefore be monitored and controlled to ensure the process produces a product of the desired quality. CPPs are identified through process characterization studies and risk assessment, and are a central component of the design space and control strategy defined in regulatory submissions following ICH Q8 and ICH Q11 guidelines.
